Labeling urged on food topping 1% `GM' content
Article Abstract:
A group of European Union scientists has recommended that any foods with more than 1% "GM," or genetically modified, content be subject to special labeling. Any foods with less than 1% would not have to be subject to such a requirement. The Scientific Committee on Foods includes scientists from each of the EU's 15 member states. The scientists recommended the regulations by a majority that included the biggest countries in the EU. This virtually ensures the regulation's formal adaption under EU law.
